The data we show

Flagline only shows competition results that organisers have published publicly on LiveHeats: names, clubs, divisions, places and the competitions they come from. We don't collect anything else about athletes.

Juniors

• Anyone who raced a junior race in their most recent season — or whose age the results don't make clear — is shown with their first name and surname initial only (“Sam J.”), on every page, in search and on share images.
• Juniors can be found in search by first name, or first name and initial — never by surname.
• Junior profiles are hidden from search engines and left out of our sitemap.
• A full surname only appears once an athlete races as an adult and no longer races junior events.

Your follows stay on your device

There are no accounts. The club and athletes you follow, and your Night/Beach theme choice, are saved in your own browser (local storage) and never sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes them.

Analytics, only if you say yes

We'd like to know which pages are useful, so we ask before using Google Analytics. Nothing is measured until you choose “Accept analytics”.

• What's collected: the pages viewed, the site or link you came from, your device type, browser and rough location (country or city, which Google works out from your connection), and a few anonymous actions: following or unfollowing, choosing a club, sharing a card, changing a filter, opening a head-to-head and searching.
• No names, no personal data: athlete pages are reported by their short code only (/athletes/abc12), never the name in the address or the page title. For searches we record how many characters you typed and how many results came back, never the words. There are no accounts, so there is nothing to link your visits to you.
• Why: to see which pages people use, fix what doesn't work and decide what to build next.
• No ads: Flagline has no advertising. Advertising storage and personalisation stay switched off whatever you choose, and nothing is used for ad targeting.
• Cookies: if you accept, Google Analytics sets its own first-party cookies (named _ga) to count repeat visits. If you decline, none are set, and we send no page views or events. Google's tag script still loads so it can respect your choice.
• Changing your mind: use “Cookie settings” at the bottom of any page. Declining later stops measurement and deletes the _ga cookies. Your choice is saved in your browser.

Our hosting also keeps standard server logs (such as the pages requested) to keep the site running and secure.

Claim, correct or remove a profile

If you're an athlete, or the parent of a junior, and want a profile corrected, limited to an initial or removed, email hello@flagline.co.za. We'll reply as soon as we can.
