Clubs are ranked by points, not medals

Every club table, competition and season ranking now uses points: 8 for 1st in a final, 7 for 2nd, down to 1 for 8th, with ties split on countback. It's the same scoring as the official LiveHeats pointscore, and where LiveHeats publishes official club points for a competition we show those, labelled official.

The rules, explained

Plain-language guides to the Lifesaving South Africa Competition Manual: age groups, the awards you need to compete, how each beach, surf and team event is run, and more. Each guide cites the manual sections it comes from.

Combined-age races show each age group's places

When two or more age groups race together in one heat, each athlete is now placed within their own age group as well as overall, using the age groups LiveHeats records for that race. Result pages and share cards show the age-group place.

Club analytics and club-vs-club comparisons

Every club has an Analytics tab with sections for Points, Strengths (every discipline by podium rate, medals and form), Depth (members by rating, with relay line-up ideas), Pipeline (new, returning and lapsed athletes) and the club record book. Compare any two clubs side by side, season by season.

Head-to-head

Pick any two athletes to see every race they've both been in, grouped by competition, with who finished ahead each time, the last meeting and the current streak. Filter by discipline, or by finals only. Clubs have a head-to-head too.

Flags on results

Division results now point out what stood out in each race: the favourite, upsets, athletes who beat the odds, first wins and other milestones, rating changes and newcomers. Junior athletes are never flagged for a bad result.

Seasons follow LSA's 1 October start

Seasons on Flagline now run from 1 October to 30 September, matching Lifesaving South Africa's competition season, so a season's results, rankings and pointscores line up with the official year.
