Beach flags

How a round works

1. Athletes lie face down on the start line, toes on the line, hands stacked in front of them and heads up, with the batons (the "flags") behind them.
2. On "heads down" they rest their chins on their hands; on the whistle they rise, turn and race to the batons set upright in the sand.
3. Anyone who does not get a baton is out. Batons are removed and the next run-through starts, until one athlete holds the last baton.

Moving before the whistle, or deliberately using hands, arms or legs on another athlete, gets you eliminated; taking two batons is a disqualification. The full LSA rules are in beach flags rules.
