How Flagline's numbers work
Flagline's numbers are all built from finishing places in LiveHeats results. The core measure is the finish percentile: 100 for winning a heat, 0 for finishing last. Form averages those percentiles; podium rate is the share of individual races ending in a medal; medals are 1st to 3rd in a division's final ranking.
Finish percentile
Every individual heat result becomes a percentile: 100 × (1 − (place − 1) ÷ (finishers − 1)). Winning is 100, last is 0, and a heat with one finisher counts as 100. This makes a 3rd of 16 comparable with a 3rd of 4. Relays and team events are not included.
Form
- Season form: the average finish percentile of all an athlete's individual heats in a season. It shows once an athlete has raced at least 6 heats.
- Discipline form: the average finish percentile of the athlete's last 6 heats in that discipline, shown once they have 4 races in it.
- In form (home page): season form, ranked among athletes with at least 8 heats this season.
Medals, podium rate and finals
- Medal: a 1st, 2nd or 3rd place in a division's final ranking. Relay and team medals count once per team.
- Podium rate: medals ÷ individual races, as a percentage.
- Finals reached: the share of an athlete's divisions with heats in which they made the final. Straight finals (no heats) are not counted.
Clubs and rivals
Club leaderboards rank clubs by points for one season: each competition's points added up, with medals shown alongside for information. A rival is another athlete you have raced in the same heat; the head-to-head counts who finished ahead each time.
Full definitions of every number, with sample-size rules, are on the numbers reference.
The Flagline Rating behind the rankings is a skill rating from every heat's finishing order; how ratings work explains it, including why a rating can drop.
